London Stock Exchange


London Stock Exchange , (hereinafter LSE) is the third largest exchange in the world after Tokyo and New York. Until World War I, it is the biggest, but the postwar economic boom the U.S. has shifted from the stock exchange in New York, and after World War II has been superseded by the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

Year of the first exchange is controversial – some sources suggest 1554, others 1760 Trading was mixed, were marketed as commodities and bonds. Securities trading dates from the seventeenth century, but the initial trade was unorganized and could hardly speak of “exchange”. Transactions are concluded in mostly in cafes before moving into the building of the Bank of England. LSE as an organized securities market was established in 1773 (other sources suggest 1802).

Since 1973 only exchange center is established in London. As a result, introduced in 1979 more liberal requirements for the offered securities and their issuers LSE ranks first in world in number and turnover of foreign securities. In 1986 takes place called “big blow”, namely the reform which abolished fixed commission brokerite.Tova allay the difference between brokers and dzhoberi. Has been removed and the prohibition of membership of persons in foreign exchange. Introduced and automated quotation system which enables the majority of transactions to be concluded electronically. Members of the LSE are 5255 persons carrying out 000 operations to 100 daily. Turnover on the exchange cover one tenth of trade securities worldwide. The list of stock types included 730 securities with total market value of about 3 trillion pounds. Securities are organized in 12 categories.

Manual of the exchange is done by a Board of Directors (1991 to BSE board) and General Assembly members.
